American Goldfinch

                                                                                         



        The American Goldfinch is the state bird for New Jersey, Iowa and Washington. The males are brilliant yellow and the females are a dull yellow complexion. The American Goldfinch molt it's feathers twice a year, once in the late winter and again in the late summer. The oldest American Goldfinch was recorded to be ten years old and five months.
