The American Goldfinch is one of the most common songbirds in the US. It is as small as the tufted titmouse. During breeding season males have a bright yellow with black wings with white stripes. They have a bright orange. Females and males that are not in breeding season have a dull look to them, the are a light brown color. There diet consist of only fruits and seeds, no meat whatsoever. They are found in grasslands, farms, parks, and backyards. They are the only songbirds to molt twice a year and they are the state bird for New Jersey. The American Goldfinch is truly an amazing bird
